Poetry: You left your mark

You left your mark on me

red and swollen around my waist

as your poison sinks in,

causing me to collapse in agony

and unadulterated shock

that a sweet gesture

could cause such immense pain

as the sand pries my lips open

and forces me to thank you

for your jellyfish hug.
